Journey Within Sober Living was founded in 2005 by founder Kim Arnold (also known as Coach Kim).
JWSL was born from a deep commitment to serve communities devastated by violence, addiction, poverty, and systemic challenges. Observing the struggles around her, our founder inspired a small, dedicated group of friends and family to take action by distributing food, clothing, hygiene kits, and, most importantly, offering care, support, and prayers to those in need.
Since then, JWSL’s outreach has extended around the globe, including teaching in elementary schools and raising funds to build a school in Kenya, as well as serving underserved communities in Japan, Brazil, and Jamaica.
Today, our primary focus is empowering women in Chicago particularly those with children, single women, and women transitioning out of incarceration or drug rehabilitation—to rebuild their lives. We provide comprehensive support through housing, access to vital community resources, coaching, and mentorship, helping women achieve stability, independence, and hope.
We proudly serve the Chicago, IL and Atlanta, GA areas, with a mission to address immediate needs like hunger while fostering long-term empowerment and self-sufficiency.
